Topic Warning and Disclaimer:
This post is my opinion only and not necessary the opinions of Book Lovers, Inc. I don’t own any of the title(s) or book(s) mention below. I hope that you will enjoy today’s topic discussion. Read at your own risk!
Hello and welcome to my new erotic discussion of the week. I got a great topic for you all today. This topic is one that I have been dying to talk about and am very happy to share today.
Are you ready?
It’s M/M Romance!
Or what some people such as me like to call man love. *sigh*
The reason for choosing today’s topic, besides the fact that it is a fascinating subject to read about, is that I'm still a newbie when it comes to this sub-genre. I haven’t ventured far into this realm of deliciousness, so I am hoping to discover new books (when I get the chance of course) to get a new fix for my obsession of "man love" romance.
I think (and this is just my opinion) that most readers simply enjoy the downright naughtiness of reading these novels. Some m/m romances create a whirlwind of humor, angst and just the perfect amount of sexy love scenes that enthrall most readers. I love reading angst in my novels as long as we can get a HEA at the end. So it's no surprise that I love reading angst in m/m as well.
One of the first m/m novels I read was Fire Season by Lex Valentine...It was a challenge for me to read an m/m and boy! (no pun intended) was I glad I took the leap of fate and read Fire Season. It just drew me in like any other romance novel would, nonetheless it being two heroes falling in love with each other.
It surprised me at how much I loved reading the sex scenes between these two alpha males. Maybe it was the way the author wrote the soul aching angst between them that drew me in, however it could also be I lucked out when I picked Fire Season by Lex Valentine as my first choice to read.
Or maybe I am closet sexy book nymph that just loves read to sexy man loving scenes.
Nope, that can't be it. I am obviously not the only one that loves m/m romances or else it would not be so popular.
Lately I don’t have the time to do much reading just for fun. But I am hoping to take some time off soon and perhaps I can find a few spare moments for some long awaited R & R with a book. With this break I'm hoping to change my newbie title into at least an advanced reader title in the m/m romances genre. I want a few suggestions of sexy and angst filled m/m romances to fill my to be read list.
So here are my questions for today.
Now if you a fan of m/m romances like me… what was the one thing that drew you into this world of man love?
Can you remember you first m/m romance title?
Which was one of the most memorable m/m novels you’ve read up to now?
Have you read one lately?
Thank you all for reading today’s topic on m/m romance novels. I hope you all enjoy reading as much as I did writing it.
Until next time,
Sexy Lover

If you haven't read it yet, I just recently finished up Grey's Awakening by Cameron Dane. Absolutely loved it. The romanace between the two men was well done, as were the various sex scenes. :^)
Thank you for your kind words about Fire Season! I'm so very glad that you liked it. It was my first M/M story but by no means my last. ;) I also have Rousing Caine in the Love Me Dead anthology at MLR Press and Where There's Smoke will be coming soon from Liquid Silver Books.
And I have to agree with Sara, Cameron Dane does a very good M/M. My favorite of hers is Knowing Caleb. But there are a lot of awesome M/M authors whom I read and who are auto-buys for me: Z.A. Maxfield, Ethan Day, Jason Edding, William Maltese, Victor J. Banis, James Buchanan, Willa Okati, Jan Irving, Patric Michael, and Shannon Frost. If you like rock stars, you'll love Shannon's book Conquest.
Thanks again for saying such nice things about Fire Season! I sincerely appreciate it!
Great post! I started reading m/m romance because I got tired of reading about TSTL girls. I was really frustrated with the females in the books I was reading, and I noticed that some of my friends at Goodreads were raving about J.L. Langley's Then Tin Star. It's a sweet story about hot cowboy love. I was hooked! I'd recommend any books by Langley. Now, the majority of my romance reading is in the m/m genre.
Hope this coding works.
Now if you a fan of m/m romances like me… what was the one thing that drew you into this world of man love? I read m/f for years, then got bored with TSTL heroines like Eyre and moved to mysteries. For maybe 15 years I pretty much read mysteries exclusively, then about 2 years ago I started reading Paranormal Romance. I was on Amazon and got a link to someone's blog who was reviewing m/m. Hmmm. I had read some m/m/f which I enjoyed so I took a chance and wow, it was great. Something new, the dynamic is different from m/f, I could still get my paranormal fix with some shifter and vampire stories, plus I rediscovered contemporaries which bored me in other genres. I was hooked. It's been about 18 months now.
Can you remember you first m/m romance title? I THINK it was Crossing Borders by Z.A. Maxfield. I know it was either that or Rush in the Dark by Lynn Lorenz. Thankfully both great books so I didn't get scared off by choosing unwisely.
Which was one of the most memorable m/m novels you’ve read up to now?I hate this question. LOL Tigers and Devils by Sean Kennedy, Crossing Borders, 911 by Chris Owen, JL Langley's With/Without series, too many really. I could go on and on.
Have you read one lately? LOL I read about 10-15 a week, more if I get on a short binge where I will then read closer to 20. Just finished An Uncommon Whore by Belinda McBride which was excellent.
I was led here by Eyre's post!
The one thing that drew me in? I found it incredibly hot. Loved the sex between men.
First m/m romance title? This is going to sound weird, but it wasn't m/m, it was Joey Hill's Natural Law. That was the first time I'd read anything where the man was an alpha man but a sexual submissive to a female dominant. I liked it so much that I looked at her other books and found Rough Canvas. Talk about a portal to a new world! And I've been there ever since.
Memorable m/m novels? The Cambridge Fellows series by Charlie Cochrane; The PsyCop series by Jordan Castillo Price; The Adrien English series by Josh Lanyon; (Can you tell I like the continuing sagas) But really there are sooo many good ones out there!
Read one lately? Hell, yeah! Wrote one, too! The one I just finished was for an out-of-your-comfort-zone challenge, so while it was m/m, it was a young adult novel, called Vintage by Steve Berman. I liked it very much.
Welcome to the wonderful world of m/m romance!
Ohh i love all the recommendations in the comments here, i'm adding a few to my already long list of TBR. M/M books with HEA, that's what i need!
I keep saying i want to read M/M books ,but i still haven't read one, and i'm not doing anything to correct that. I must change that really. Man Love *sigh* This year i'll take the leap too ;)
pattepoilue,
Take the plunge!
Now if you are a fan of m/m romances like me… what was the one thing that drew you into this world of man love? After too many years to mention I had become very dissatisfied with M/F romance books. Everything I read was boring me so I started reading erotica. I then discovered menage stories and after a few of those I found myself fascinated with the man on man action and wishing the girl was out of the picture. Soon I found M/M books and I haven't read anything else in close to three years.
Can you remember you first m/m romance title? It was Snow Angel by Sharon Maria Bidwell.
Which was one of the most memorable m/m novels you’ve read up to now? Some of my favorites include 911 and Bareback by Chris Owen, Tigers and Devils by Sean Kennedy, My Fair Captain by JL Langley, Zero at the Bone by Jane Seville, Windows In Time by M. Jules Aedin and many more.
Have you read one lately? I read everyday and only M/M. In January I read 32 books total.
@Eyre I will! I will! I want to very badly! *g* I'm taking notes here, my list is getting bigger by the minute =)
Now if you are a fan of m/m romances like me… what was the one thing that drew you into this world of man love? Ditto to what Lily said. I went from m/f erotic romance to m/f/m to m/m/f to m/m romances. I love sex and angst in books, and with m/m romances you can get another layer of angst. I also love the relationship dynamic in a m/m romance. It's different than a m/f, and not just because both characters have the same naughty bits. ;)
Can you remember you first m/m romance title? I had to check my files for this one. Based on the oldest save dates, it was either The Cost of Eternity by Shayla Kersten, Valmont's Trinity by Sedonia Guillone or Open to Possibilities by Carol Lynn. The last two are actually m/m/m books - talk about jumping into a new genre with both feet. LOL
Which was one of the most memorable m/m novels you’ve read up to now? Absolute favorite books include Diving in Deep by KA Mitchell, Aiden and Ethan by Cameron Dane, Faith and Fidelity by Tere Michaels, and The Englor Affair by JL Langley. The first 3 have wonderful angst and the last one is a Sci-Regency and it's by JL Langley. I *heart* her books.
Have you read one lately? And Call Me In the Morning by Willa Okati and As You Are by Ethan Day. Loved them both.
If you're looking for sexy and angst filled romances, maybe try KA Mitchell and/or Cameron Dane. They do get angst, the emotion just grabs you and yanks you into the book, and they also write super hot sex. :) I'd also recommend anything written by JL Langley.
Happy reading!! :)
Thanks for all the suggestions. Got a quite a few M/M books to be added to the top of my TBR pile!
